19 Feb Be there to join the Celebration of the 1944 World Series
Join us for a free open to the public remembrance and celebration of the pinnacle of St. Louis baseball when the American League pennant winning St. Louis Browns and the National League pennant winning St. Louis Cardinals played each other in the 1944 World Series 80 years ago this year. We don’t want to forget when the world was singing “Meet Me in St. Louie, Louie,” that year from the famous Judy Garland film. Baseball fans were meeting here not for the fair but for baseball.
On Saturday February 24th we will meet at 1 PM in the auditorium of the Carondelet Historical Society, located at 6303 Michigan Avenue. We will expand upon the very popular presentation that we gave at the Cardinals Winter Warm-Up in January. Through film, photos, and memorabilia, we will walk through how both teams got to the Series, what happened throughout the games and then what happened in the 1945 season. There will be hundreds of pieces of memorabilia from the Series and lot of memories to share. WE hope you will have some to share as well. For questions, email STLBROWNS@swbell.net.
We hope to see you and your friends, as we keep the spirit of this special St. Louis moment alive.
