30 May Saucier TURNS 95
A very special tip of the Brownie cap to former Browns player Frank Saucier who turns 95 today. Frank was one of the greatest players to ever wear a baseball uniform. Frank established hitting records in college and the minor leagues before his trip to the Major Leagues. In case you haven’t heard of his prowess, it is likely because he chose his nation over his big league career. WWII and the Korean Conflict superseded his time between the white chalked lines. You will quickly see there is so much more to the man and story than just his involvement in the day Eddie Gaedel came to bat. Late last fall we held a zoom call with Frank and I don’t think any of the hundreds who have seen that call walked away unimpressed. Happy Birthday to a real gentleman and an American hero. It is a real honor to have met Frank and to continue to promote his legacy.
